Impacts of climate change

Practical Action has a specific website on climate choices with comprehensive resources for different key stages and links to various parts of the curriculum. See for example: interactive website for children aged 9-11 years; PowerPoint presentations  (eg about floating gardens to beat the floods in Bangladesh) , Stories for KS3 and 4 and games. All are based on their work on adaptive technologies, together with people in countries adversely affected by climate change now.

Practical Action also address sustainable technology in their STEP programme for KS3.

School and College Linking across the world and Global Focus Weeks

globalgateway is one of many school linking schemes. This one is DES/British Council. Its Global Focus Weeks offer an appropriate opportunity for One World Week in schools (Remember, you choose the week so it doesn't matter if the published dates fall in Half Term). There are useful examples of what is feasible on the site and the topics fit well with some of OWW's concerns so an opportunity to explore together them with children around the world and listen to their perspectives.
