Dear Organiser/Supporter,

This newsletter is intended to spur you on with your planning meetings before the summer holidays. We do hope that whether you are an old hand or a new comer to One World Week, events are taking shape and ideas are flowing.

Resources

Fantastic new resources available NOW! We are incredibly proud of this year’s resources, which include stories to inspire from around the world, ideas for discussions and thought-provoking presentations – great starting point for your “Hungry for One World” events. Please take a look at the new resources that are now on the website, and keep checking as more will be made available throughout the summer months. They should help to make your events more inter faith, as many include an Islamic perspective on issues of poverty. We are most grateful for all the support from our advisors and editors who are helping us to ensure our resources this year remain such high quality.

Going public

A call for you to send in a video clip that could be used on the website to advertise what OWW events are all about.

Do you have footage of previous OWW events?

Would you like to make a short 2 minute clip that shows precisely what your event is all about?

Are you, or do you know someone, with an eye for photography?

We are looking for top quality, short, 2 minute videos that we can download to the website so that others can see what goes on around the country. Now that we are global through the website, this would be a fantastic way to celebrate what OWW is all about and provide some great insights for others doing OWW events.

For more information, check out the website under video challenge.

Advertise your events on the website

The OWW website is waiting for your events to appear on the calendar. As soon as you have dates and events, simply go to the website and log in (or register if you have not previously done so). Go to the events page and complete the event form. Your event will then appear on the calendar! We at the office will be visiting more villages, towns and cities during OWW this year so, if you feel that your event deserves a visit, please put it up soon! It will help us to decide where to visit.

Leaflets

Contact the office if you would like more leaflets for this year. The eye-catching, professionally designed leaflet can be used as a poster advertising your events, as a handout to explain what OWW is all about or as a focal point for discussion. Hurry while stocks last! Leaflets can be downloaded from the resources page.

Training opportunities

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) have some excellent training days planned during the year, which OWW supporters are invited to attend. If you would like to be re-inspired, gain new ideas and meet others who are just as passionate about raising awareness of global issues then these training days may be exactly what you are looking for. Find out more about VSO training days.

Our own successful National Training Day in March was an opportunity to come together and explore how to engage more fully in inter faith events. Activities stimulated us to plan and think creatively,  and motivated us to return encouraged and equipped for OWW 2009.

“A stimulating day- got me thinking!”

“Today was very important to share good practice and make friends”.

Plans are underway for  Spring 2010 National Training Day, details will be available on the website.

And finally...

Thank you for all your continued support! We wish you every success as you plan for this year’s events.

From the staff at One World Week
