One World Week Handbook launched
Date: 12th April 2011 for immediate release
ONE WORLD WEEK HANDBOOK LAUNCHED
One World Week trustees and staff are very excited to announce that their new handbook, Piecing Together One World, is hot off the press.
The handbook includes loads of advice on event organisation for seasoned local activists and fresh faces alike. It draws upon what OWW, as an organisation, and its supporters, putting on local events, have learned together from the experience of implementing the project Exploring Ubuntu – One World Across Faiths. Ubuntu or active togetherness embodies the values of shared responsibility for each other.
The handbook was officially launched at the headquarters of Christian Aid in Lambeth. Luminaries from a range of charities and faith communities attended the event. Jo Kitterick, Head of Education at CAFOD, speaking at the event, said that the handbook reflected the values she has seen in One World Week over many years and described it as “Simple, engaging and creative”.
The handbook is intended to inspire, inform and encourage more people of diverse backgrounds to come together to explore shared values and take action locally and globally to build a just, peaceful and sustainable world. It will be very useful for planners who are already preparing for One World Week 2011 - Living for One World, which is from 23 – 30 October.
Copies of the handbook can be requested by contacting One World Week through their website: www.oneworldweek.org
