OWW 2013 - 20 to 27 October

"More Than Enough?"

"More Than Enough?" is the theme for One World Week 2013

This year’s theme for One World Week offers two linked elements:

First, along with the European Global Education Week we want to explore issues about consumption of resources and to consider whether we:

  • have had more than enough of consumer culture getting in the way of relationships with others in our communities and across the globe?

  • have had more than enough of being defined by what we possess?

  • have had more than enough of seeing our planet irrevocably consumed?

  • take more than enough ourselves?

Secondly, we realise that many of you will be involved in the multi-organisation campaign “Enough Food for everyone IF” (see below). Our One World Week offers an opportunity to support or organise local events with all the people and organisations involved to follow up the campaign and to consider what needs to be done next.

Money Matters This is an on-going concern for OWW We thank you for your recent contributions. If you haven’t already, please consider a regular donation, to help us plan for the future. Of course any donation is immensely welcome in these difficult times.

Your photos have made the headlines! Some are now in OWW’s website banner. THANK YOU.

OWW has joined the IF campaign – addressing the question: “Why, if the world produces enough food for everyone, do more than two million children die every year because they can’t get enough to eat?” Watch the IF campaign animation. Why we have joined the IF Campaign.

News of Trustees - Sally has been in India, where she found it “particularly inspiring to be there on International Women’s Day”. Ingrid is visiting "Grassroots" in Zimbabwe - she says “This visit is certainly within the spirit of OWW, building relationships to bring about positive change”. OWW has made no financial contribution to these trips but we do look forward to learning from their insights in the coming weeks.

Could you become a Local Area Events Contact? Getting a feel for what is going on in your area and encouraging event organisers to: use OWW’s and other’s resources; publicise their events and provide feed back? Please get in touch find out more …

Thank you for being part of the family that is One World Week.
