"Living Differently"

Breaking Chains - Making Change

OWW 2014 - 19th to 26th October

This is the time when One World Week 2014 links you and your global justice activities with others across the UK and beyond!

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR “Living Differently” DURING ONE WORLD WEEK?

  • Are you organising your own event or supporting one you’ve heard about?

  • Will you be combining your OWW event with another event like Week of Prayer for World Peace, who will be celebrating their 40th Anniversary from 12th - 19th October 2014? http://www.weekofprayerforworldpeace.com/events.html

  • How about starting your OWW with Prayer and Action for our climate during Christian Aid’s “Hunger for Justice weekend” on 18-19 October 2014? - sign up here to get your Church involved.

  • Or add your voice to Good Money Week, 19-25 October 2014? It’s an opportunity to ensure those you trust with your money are looking after it well and using it in ways that benefit society and protect the environment.

  • No plans yet? Really? Take a look at what others have organised, OWW Events Calendar, They might help you get started. Or to find an event by location take a look at our UK Map.

  • Have you considered raising some money for OWW at your event this year? With grants becoming increasing difficult to obtain, we need your support more than ever before. How to Donate.

  • You don’t have to do it alone. You could link up with local groups and supporters of our partner organisations and access their campaigns and resources. Working with other organisations and local groups in 2014

PUBLICITY

Use our Living Differently Logos on your publicity. Just download them from our website. Or simply add your details to the space on the “Living Differently” Leaflet, also on our website. Use our “Living differently” press release template to let your local press and media know what you’re planning – and tell them how it went afterwards. Don’t forget to take photos.

Need our printed leaflets? Use the attached Resource Order/Single Donation Form to order your additional leaflets. All we ask is for a contribution towards printing and postage cost of £2 for 10 or £4 for 30 leaflets. This could also be your chance to add a much-needed donation to your cheque.

There is no charge for bulk mailing over 300 leaflets. Get your hard copies of the acclaimed OWW handbook and OWW interfaith booklet for just £2 each towards postage. They contain many useful hints. You can also see the Handbook on our website.

THREAT OF CLOSURE

One World Week is facing the possibility of imminent closure after 36 years, due to lack of funding, despite the many individual contributions for which we continue to be very grateful. We are currently calling on key partners for support to take us to OWW 2015 and await their response.

OWW is unique in bringing people together who care about global justice, identifying commonalities that transcend monocultures of race, faith or issue. Through its annual themes, OWW has been a conduit for people to become more aware of the background to issues such as the environment, fair trade or climate change as they have become household words. Joint events encourage people to confront fundamental causes of poverty on safe, neutral ground.

Like never before, we need your donations to continue providing you with resources to carry on raising awareness about global justice.

WE LOOK FORWARD to a fruitful One World Week 2014 of challenging ‘people to work together to build a just, peaceful and sustainable world’.

With best wishes from Mina, Ingrid, Jonaid, Sally, Sarah and Sebastian
