As members and friends of the Trade Justice Movement, we would like to invite you to our next members’ meeting. You will hear from our expert speakers on how trade and investment deals are engineered to promote the interests of big business at the expense of people and the environment across the globe. There will be lots of opportunity for questions, discussion and debate. We will also provide an overview of our MEP candidate campaign, ‘Take Back the Power’, which calls on MEPs to tackle the corporate power grab.

Our speakers:

  • Susan George will provide an overview of the global political economy in which trade and investment deals in their current form flourish.
  • Mahnaz Malik, an investment lawyer, will provide an insight into the secretive court system, written into trade and investment deals which allow companies to sue governments for democratic law making.
  • John Hilary will discuss the controversial EU-US trade deal currently being negotiated and its global ramifications.
  • Amélie Canonne will talk about the need for visionary alternatives and provide an update on the Alternative Trade Mandate.
